West Point Grey

Kids in the Morning

Today, Daddy promised the kids we'd take them to the park at West Point Grey. Daddy showed Melur pictures from the last visit when Daddy brought Arman there after the hair cut (See Previous Blog: Out with Arman). I woke that morning (a little late) to discover the kids had done up their room with tents made of bedding.

Morning Creations

After lunch, we headed over to the bus stop. The weather was GREAT! As usual, Melur posed for the camera in the sunlight. Melur had on a baseball cap, and with the bright light, it's a little hard to see Melur face. Oh well...

Posing in the Sun

Our first stop at West Point Grey, before going to the park, was the Vancouver Public Library. It's been a while since we last went. There have been so many excuses for not going. So we were determined to go this time. We left Daddy's and Melur's library cards at home, so we made a new one for Arman. Arman and Melur each borrowed 3 books and a DVD. Mommy borrowed 2 Harry Potter books, all under Arman's card. The kids are in the habit of choosing their own books, so Mommy and Daddy read to them in the library before Melur and Arman can decide on which books to borrow.

Reading at the Library

After the library, it was onward to the park, the very big park the Melur was so excited about. I think she was quite pleased with the results. She headed straight for the swing, which was twice as tall as the one behind our house.

The kids had so much fun. Melur hung out at the bench a little bit with Mommy. Mommy started reading the Harry Potter book she just borrowed. The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere calm. And Arman had fun at the play ground. Daddy just enjoyed the moment and took some pictures.

Commons Block

It's Friday, and it's time to do the laundry. The Smart Card was running low on cash today, and so we headed to the commons block to top it up with some cash.

This is the Commons Block

So the kids followed me over there. The walk was short, and everyone was in high spirits.

Kids on the way to Commons Block

After topping up the smart card, I let the kids play for a little while at the playground just outside the Commons Block. The park here is catered to the smaller child, toddlers... The kids had fun playing with a rocking horse.

And that was that... We headed back home for dinner, and it's still bright outside until 9 pm.

That's all for today. Hope you guys have a good weekend.

Out with Arman

I know the title of this entry is "Out with Arman", but I started the day playing with the kids at home before heading out. The kids love getting tickled.

Playing with the Kids

Melur didn't want to come along. She wanted to stay home with Mommy. Daddy wanted to get a hair cut. And since Arman's hair was getting rather long as well, we thought we might make a day of it. And so we set out together to find a barber on this warm Sunday afternoon. I hope they're open.

We took the #17 bus to Kitsilano and made it to Nick's Barber Shop. Unfortunately... it was closed. Aww... Daddy decided to walk down Broadway and maybe find another barber that's open. And we stopped by Tim Horton's on the way. Arman was very excited about that.

Timbits at Tim Horton's

There was another barber on Broadway called Magic Cuts. It was a little expensive, so we decided to try another place. We got on the bus and headed back to West Point Grey, which is on the way back home actually. We found a place called Great Clips, and decided to give it a shot.

The Aftermath

You guessed it! Arman refused to get his hair cut. So Daddy was the only one with the short hair. That's okay. Maybe next time. Daddy may just have to cut Arman's hair himself (I think Mommy's a bit scared about that). We'll see how that goes.

After the hair cut, we head 3 blocks north to the West Point Grey Park. It was a pretty big park, comparable to, maybe even larger than, the park at Kitsilano Community Center. Daddy let Arman loose on the slides and whatever else was there.

Arman Playing at the Park

Well... after about half an hour at the park, we headed home. Arman was pretty happy, despite having a slight cough. We definitely have to bring Melur here next time. Maybe next weekend.

True Confections

Today, we went to a cake house called True Confections to mingle with Mommy's college friends.

Mommy mingling

Look at Mommy go. The kids had fun though. The cake was exquisite. Seeing as we just had dinner at McDonald's (we didn't have time to cook a full-fledge dinner), we opted to share a slice of cake, a very expensive slice of cake (CAD$11 with tip). It was really good though.
