Fancy Melur

We've been reading stories to Melur and Arman before bedtime every night. It is our typical ritual... brush their teeth, change into pyjammas, bedtime stories (usually one book each), and then sleep. The kids are now very use to this and Alhamdulillah we don't have problems putting them to bed.

One of Melur's favorite stories now is Fancy Nancy. She learned lots of new things... "a princess wears a tiara" and "you need to wear accessories to be fancy". So we bought her a tiara and some accessories from the dollar store (Arman got a sword by the way). She loves them so much that she wears them quite often... while at the park, sleeping, dinner time.

Enjoy pictures of Melur and Arman inside the house as well as playing outside. Of course, she's wearing her tiara and accessories.

Sunday at Tim Horton's

Well... today, the kids are with daddy. Daddy had some errands to run today, namely to get some meat from the Halal Meat Market. Daddy brought the kids along, just for fun. It was raining again, but the trip itself was quite uneventful. We took the bus, and stopped at Tim Horton's for some donuts and the way back. Here are some pictures!

Nice Day for a Picnic

Lunch Outside

The morning of February 18th, 2007 was bright and cheery. We haven't had good weather in Vancouver for a while. Our initial plan was to go to downtown, and visit the underground mall there. But who wants to waste good weather walking around inside an underground mall? We decided to walk around the neighborhood instead.

Acadia Preschool for Arman

So around 12 noon we headed towards Acadia Park Pre-school. The previous Friday, Mommy registered Arman to attend this pre-school on a full-time basis starting September. Classes for Arman will be on weekdays from 8:30am until 1pm. The walk to the pre-school is between 10 to 15 minutes. Mommy figures that she'll be walking Arman to school daily starting fall... that should be enjoyable. What is less enjoyable is making sure he goes to sleep the night before so that he'll wake up early the next day. Arman has so much energy but amazingly he doesn't seem to need much sleep...

We took pictures of the pre-school for the blog. The kids played a bit at the small park in front of the pre-school. Around 1pm we sat and had a nice lunch. We had home-made sandwiches, yogurt and bananas. You can see the pictures of Melur and Arman playing, and the whole family having a nice picnic outside.

Picnic Lunch Outside

We spent the rest of the afternoon getting our groceries at Safeway. We also stopped for a break at Starbucks... enjoying our usual hot chocolate. Hope the kids will grow up remembering the good times we shared as a family...:)

Happy Valentine's Day

It's Valentine's Day! Daddy planned a special evening at home with the family. It's not like Mommy and Daddy can go out today, with two adorable kids at home. Daddy got some beef fillets from the Halal meat market, and prepared some steak. Place Setting for 4. Yummy....

The menu today, Beef Steak cooked medium-well, served with Wild Mushroom Sauce, with sides of steamed Broccoli and Cauliflower, Hash Browns, and Baked Corn. Mommy brought some Cranberry Juice, a sweet delectable complement to the salty taste of the meat.

Melur and- Hey! Where's Arman?

After dinner, we had ICE-CREAM! I think that was a suitable ending to our Special Valentine's Day Evening together as a family.

Swimming Suits from Metrotown

Today's weather wasn't as sunny as yesterday. In fact, weather was quite dreary with overcast clouds and intermittent rain. Normally, we'd stay home on a day like this. But Melur was in desperate need of a new swimming suit for her swimming class. So off we went to Metrotown by bus and by train.

And the first thing they did when we got to Metrotown was... get in a toy truck. They were begging me for coins. But alas... Daddy didn't have the change to spare. So off we went to Zeller's to shop for swimming suits for Arman and Melur.

After finishing up at Zeller's, the kids were getting pretty tired. I had promised them Hot Chocolate. And so we went to Starbucks. Starbucks hot chocolate is GREAT... much better than Blenz (in my opinion, though Mommy may say otherwise).

Kecik-kecik dah pi Starbucks!

After Starbucks, the children were hungry... so off to McDonald's again (we just went yesterday). We shared a Fish Filet Meal. I don't recommend McDonald's at Metrotown on weekends. It was a little scary... Lots of teenagers who were a bit... unruly.

Anyway... after all that, it was time to head home. As usual, the kids fought for that one seat at the end of the train with the real good view of the tracks. When we got on the bus, Arman was so tired, he couldn't stay awake. He slept on the bus ride all the way back to UBC campus. But we got what we came for. Take a look at the kids in their new bathing suits.

Nice Day in February

What a nice day outside! The sun is out, and the temperature is around 12 degrees. That's a lot warmer than the 0-5 degrees we've been getting lately. We left the house around 1 pm to have lunch at McDonald's. Here are some pictures...

Quotes from Melur

Friday, February 8th 2007
Mommy: Why are you taking so long in the bathroom Melur?
Melur: Nothing, I'm just looking at the mirror.
Mommy: Why?
Melur: Because I'm so pretty. You are so lucky because I'm pretty.

"You are not tv Mommy... I don't want to watch you..."
said Melur to Mommy as she was blocking the tv from Melur's view.

Malaysia Singapore Night (MSN)

So the Malaysia Singapore Night is finally here. It was a rather large hall with seating for about 250 guests. We started off with cultural performances by Tourism Malaysia. The kids seemed to enjoy the cultural dances. Arman kept walking up and down the isle to get a closer look.

After that, there was a Fashion Show organized by the students. And soon after, food was served, courtesy of Linda's Kitchen, the same Aunty Linda we visited during Hari Raya. And so... food was fantastic. There was a huge line just to get to the food.

Melur managed to get a Malaysian flag from one of the guests, and started waiving it around. Arman was jealous.

Daddy is all set to perform with his Rock Band called GardenBurst. Melur and Arman couldn't keep their hands off the drum sticks. Daddy had to give it to someone else for safe-keeping.

If you wanna see clips from the event, you can go to Daddy's Music Page, or Daddy's YouTube Account. During the performance, Melur and Arman actually came on stage to 'kacau' Daddy. Mommy had a tough time chasing them around, and trying to restrain them. Daddy had to sit the kids next to him and the drum set. But the audience was quite sporting. Daddy thinks they mostly think the kids are cute.

Well, that was Malaysia Singapore Night at UBC. The kids definitely want to be in a Rock Band after this experience. Melur actually picked up a microphone and almost started singing. Daddy had to stop her. Oh well... At least they don't have stage fright!

Friday at Kitsilano

Well, it's Friday... And Daddy is at home with the kids! Our nanny wasn't able to come in today, because her foot was in a splint. She was in pain. Anyway, Daddy took leave to be with the kids. It was sunny outside, so we thought we'd go to the park at Kitsilano. Even though there were a lot of kids there, don't let the sun fool you. It was COOOOLLLLLDDDDDD!!!!! I think it was close to ZERO degrees (Celsius).

Anyway, here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Remember, you can click on these pictures for a larger image. Have Fun!
